Dear friends.

Tomorrow, the 26th of October 2010 ifsounds and Melodic Revolution Records will release the new ifsounds’ album “Apeirophobia”. Many of you already know the album: 20 people won it, 20 more received it just paying the shipping costs and many others bought it in our pre-release offers. Thank you all for your friendship and for the interest in our music!

Here there’s the “introduction to the album” we’re sending to the media.

“Apeirophobia” is a very ambitious project both musically and conceptually: ifsounds are releasing an album with a 28-minutes-long suite when Italian rock fans are celebrating the 40th anniversary of Italian prog. “Apeirophobia” is how psychologists name the “fear of infinity”. The homonymous suite is a travel through a man’s lifetime that shows how religions and philosophies tried to cure this phobia evolving the Human Thought in the history.

The lyrics of the album are about other social issues too, like emigration or death penalty, but always focusing them on psychology more than on politics.

Musically this ifsounds’ album is influenced by great bands like Pink Floyd, Genesis or The Who, but with a more modern and “Mediterranean” touch, trying a fusion among British and Italian prog (PFM, Banco, Balletto di Bronzo).

“Apeirophobia” has a wonderful cover art painted by Andrea Pinti who collaborates with the band for the fourth time, after “The Stairway”, “Morpho Nestira” and “if…sounds”. ifsounds are trying to grow their multimedia approach to art rock: they are settling a collaboration with video artist from Rome Cristina Nist, member of Ranelettrike, to make a short movie out of the suite.

Domani 26 ottobre 2010 ifsounds e Melodic Revolution Records pubblicheranno ufficialmente l’ultimo album degli ifsounds “Apeirophobia”. Molti di voi già conoscono l’album: 20 persone lo hanno vinto, altre 20 lo hanno ricevuto gratis pagando solo le spese di spedizione e molti altri lo hanno comprato sfruttando una delle offerte di prevendita. Grazie a tutti per la vostra amicizia e per il vostro interesse nella nostra musica!

Ecco come abbiamo presentato il disco alla stampa.

“Apeirophobia” è un disco molto ambizioso musicalmente e concettualmente: proprio quando si festeggiano i 40 anni del rock progressivo in Italia, gli ifsounds propongono un lavoro che contiene anche una lunga suite di 28 minuti in 9 movimenti nella migliore tradizione prog.

"Apeirophobia" è il nome che in psicologia si dà alla "paura dell'infinito" e la suite omonima parla, attraverso un racconto che abbraccia l'intera vita di un uomo, di come nel corso della storia del Pensiero Umano le diverse filosofie e religioni abbiano cercato di placare questa paura insita nella natura umana. Oltre agli argomenti trattati nella suite, l'album affronta altre tematiche sociali come l'emigrazione o la pena di morte, anche se sempre da un'ottica "psicologica" che privilegia la descrizione del "sentire" dell'essere umano piuttosto a considerazioni prettamente "politiche".

Musicalmente il CD degli ifsounds risente delle influenze di grandi band prog rock del passato come Pink Floyd, Genesis o The Who, ma senza rinunciare a un tocco più moderno e a un'identità più "mediterranea", sposando il rock anglosassone a suoni più propri della tradizione prog italiana (Premiata Forneria Marconi, Banco del Mutuo Soccorso, Balletto di Bronzo).

L'album "Apeirophobia" è impreziosito dalla splendida copertina realizzata dal pittoreAndrea Pinti e che sintetizza in un'immagine il tema portante dell'album. Gli ifsounds stanno cercando di accrescere ulteriormente la loro dimensione "art rock multimediale": la band ha in progetto una collaborazione con l'artista visuale romanaCristina Nist del collettivo Ranelettrike per la realizzazione di un corto basato sulla suite.

We've just posted this up on our official blog, so for those that haven't read it here's the post:

On November 19th it will be time for Children in Need to take over the BBC and start it’s fund raising show, but fund raising for Children in Need for us starts right now!

We have decided that from now until the Children in Need show airs on BBC1 on the 19th November we will donate our sales of our albums that are available on BandCamp to Children in Need.

Hopefully from now until then we can raise some funds to send to the show and help out some of the Children not only in the UK but the rest of the world, every little helps.

Last year Children in Need raised £39 million, so hopefully last years total can be beaten and  with sales of albums we do hope that we can give something to the charity as well.

So now the time to get to fundraising, stop by our BandCamp Store and lets start raising funds for Children in Need.
